Bio – Richard Jones
I am an audio-visual journalist. I aim to show how people are affected by and effect society + their surroundings.
I am moving from a documentary style to explore the digital margins of documentary journalism.
“Lock-down” project <Truth DeQay> , investigates the effect social media algorithms have on society. <Truth DeQay> explores the central question to <Truth DeQay> ; “Where do we get our knowledge and how reliable is it?” as the project develops. “Plasticity” of truth and the rise in conspiracy is a subject i will continue to explore.
My on-going project work, Time-slice Transport, captures time with a high speed cameras, initially scanning Londoners as they emerged from the pandemic and moving onto to transport and movement around cities.
I work in print, photographs, 3D modelling software, video, recorded voice, environmental sound.
I am based and was brought-up in Wales. I spent twenty years, until 2012, in Hong Kong and Tokyo working on documentary projects in Asia.
